A Case of Dentigerous Cyst Associated with Impacted Third Molar
Ahn Sang-Hun

Lee Jong-Im
Abstract
A dentigerous cyst is developmental odontogenic cyst and an epithelium-lined sac that surrounds the crown of an unerupted tooth. It is formed as a result of a separation of the follicle from around the crown of an unerupted tooth. The most common sites of this cyst are the mandibular and maxillary third molar and maxillary cuspid areas. Usually this lesion can be asymptomatic. Such cyst is often discovered accidentally on inspection of x-rays. In other advanced cases, expansion of bone with subsequent facial asymmetry, displacement of teeth and root resorption of adjacent teeth are all possible sequelae of this cyst. We report a case of dentigerous cyst associated with impacted mandibular third molar and this case with a review of related literatures.
